How do I override metrics in the ride summary.

Say you didn't use a power meter or HR monitor, and still want to manually enter BikeScore or Daniels points?

Fortunately, it is possible to manually specify metric values associated with a ride file. In the case where you have no ride file to import it is possible to create a ride file manually; from the ride menu, select manual ride.

It is quite common to forget to wear a HR strap, or perhaps workout on a gym bike. In these cases you will be unable to collect data as you workout. As a result you will 'miss out' on recording and tracking training stress. This can be annoying since it means the performance manager chart does not reflect your training and its usefulness is severely compromised.

Where you do have a ride file, it is possible to override the metrics by checking it on the metric tab at the bottom of ride summary and entering a value. In the example below, TRIMP Points have been manually specified.

If the metric is not listed on the metric tab you can add it from tools->options, settings, ride data (on Mac this is under GoldenCheetah->Preferences, settings, ride data). Do take care to make sure that the name of the field is exactly the same as the metric name (including case). In the example below, 'TRIMP Points' has been added to the metric tab.

From bug #234

You can add trimp score (or any other metric) with the GoldenCheetah->Preferences dialog. Under Settings->Ride Data->Fields.

Press the insert button.

A line is added above the currently highlighted line

You'll want to change it to read

Edit the fields by (left) clicking in the text area:
Screen tab Metric
Field TRIMP Points
Type Double

If all is well, go to the Ride Summary page, and select the Metric tab. You should see the TRIMP Points field there. Select the checkbox, and the current value in the summary will match whatever value you now enter.

This will go into the wiki FAQ sections shortly.
